Description

Taflpostamide, also called Tafluprost ethyl amide, is a synthetic analogue of 17-phenyl trinor Prostaglandin F₂α designed to act as a selective prostaglandin F (FP) receptor agonist. In preclinical studies, it demonstrated potent ocular hypotensive activity, reducing intraocular pressure (IOP) by 25–35% in normotensive and glaucomatous animal models, including rabbits and monkeys, after topical administration. Taflpostamide showed high receptor selectivity, minimal off-target activity, and favorable corneal penetration. Pharmacokinetic analyses indicated rapid ocular absorption with sustained local activity and low systemic exposure. These findings support its potential application as a therapeutic agent for glaucoma or ocular hypertension, providing effective IOP reduction with a promising safety profile.

Tafluprost ethyl amide is a prostaglandin derivative. Tafluprost ethyl amide is capable of reducing intraocular pressure (IOP) and influencing eyelash growth. Tafluprost ethyl amide can be used in antiglaucoma ophthalmic compositions.
